Retail digital presence has been analyzed in Europe and MENA. We’ve analyzed 97 retail companies in Europe and 19 retail companies in MENA.
25% of European retailers are missing necessary information about their business on Google Maps. They are also not working with online reviews and have lots of unclaimed business profiles. ¼ of the European retail companies have a significant untapped opportunity to grow. This situation is more or less the same for all analyzed European countries (e.g. Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Portugal, etc.).
Among big European countries, only Italian and British retailers have not been analyzed. Still interesting that European retailers are giving more attention to their presence on Google Maps in comparison to European banks, as only 25% of European retailers have found themselves in our Very Bad and Bad groups in comparison to 67% of European Banks.
The situation with retailers in MENA is not as good as in Europe. 47% of MENA retailers are missing crucial information on Google Maps about their businesses, not working with reviews, and have unclaimed business profiles. In comparison with European retailers, retailers in MENA have missing information way more often, as well as unclaimed business profiles. In addition to that, even if retailers in MENA work with reviews they tend to focus only on negative ones.
However, in the modern-day digital era that’s a bare minimum, and working with positive reviews is also important in order to show your clients that you’re ready to talk with them on online maps and review services. Moreover, we’ve also analyzed telecom as a separate sector of retail. In our research, 85% of MENA telecoms are missing crucial information on Google Maps about their businesses.
In comparison to banks, retail companies are performing better. That also has been shown in the SOCI LMBR report. They also highlighted that retailers are pretty accurate with their data completeness, however, still could significantly improve their work with reviews. According to Deloitte research, retail online sales increased from 2019 (as a year before the pandemic it’s a crucial benchmark to measure digital success) not only in the US and Europe (based on the UK, Germany, and France) but also in China and Argentina. Therefore, it’s a global trend that shouldn’t be missed.
We at Geojet help retailers work with online maps and review services. For instance from our cooperation with the biggest CIS retailers we were able to:
- Provide a 52% increase in discovery searches
- Provide a 37% increase in created routes
- Increase site visits by 21%
All of that brought more potential clients from online maps to offline branches and if you got curious you can check our retail case here.
