Digital marketing is an always-evolving field. And sometimes it might be hard to keep up with all of the changes/updates. We at Geojet do that by attending the most relevant conferences on such topics as Local SEO, Local Marketing, Google My Business, or anything related to online maps and online reviews. We’re getting a lot of insights from these conferences that make our job easier and more productive and want to share some bids of this knowledge with you. However, here we’re going to share only personal impressions and, of course, if you would like to get more details on it we would highly recommend you to visit these conferences by yourself next time :) With that being said, the first conference that we would like to talk about is Local U.
Local U is mostly about Local SEO and Local Marketing. It took place on August 31st and covered a variety of topics: from maximizing Customer Experience with reviews (Adam Dorfman from Reputation.com) and tips on Google Local Service Ads (Matt Casady from SterlingSky.ca) to Insights on Google My Business by Joy Hawkins from (Sterling Sky.ca) and Google Analytics by Dana DiTomaso from (KickPoint.ca).
The top-tier insights are:
- If you want to receive a review - minimize the distance that customer should go before actually leaving one for you. Don’t forget to work with various machine learning algorithms to then manage the reviews in the most efficient way. If you are looking for some tools that could help you to work with reviews don't forget to check out Geojet :)
- Stop geotagging images while working with GMB as they will be stripped away. Do not pointlessly add photos to your Google My Business accounts for ranking purposes. Instead, add photos to your website, customize your GMB photo. If you would have any problems with customizing your GMB photos check out this article.
- Images on GMB lead to more sales and Search Engine Land did very detailed research on it. So, you better take care of your GMB Images. To get some analytics on it, don’t forget to track your image performance in Google Search Console.
- Despite the pandemic, businesses witnessed a 61% increase in calls from GMB and CallRails did a proper study on it.
If you got curious about this content Local U still has virtual on-demand access for all of the talks and you can visit the next conference which is planned for November 30th. You can also apply for a free scholarship here, but you have to match certain requirements.
